Last night I had the pleasure of being an attender of the
free webinar about productivity held by the team behind
AsianEfficiency.com. Zachary Sexton lectured about some tips
that have the potential to make you more productive, but he
didn’t want to let the audience passive, so he gave us time
to write some answers about some questions related to
productivity. Among the questions, there was also the question
where we were asked to talk about the definition of
productivity that we had.
This question should be a helpful reminder to find the
clarity that we
all need, because it is usually followed by the inspiration of
taking action. My own productivity definition is
achieving the desired results. You should be aware that just because you are working, it
doesn’t necessarily mean that you are being productive. At
least, this is according to my personal definition; you may be
working 15 hours a day, feeling exhausted when your head hits
the pillow. You may have been working all that time, but if
you aren’t still near your goals, and you haven’t even made
any progress at all, what’s the point? Of course, there might
be some time when you aren’t able to be productive, but still
you are busying yourself, then it’s time to start reflecting.
That is why it is important to have a clear definition of what
you mean when you are talking about productivity, which we are
all aiming for.
Asian Efficiency’s definition about productivity is
taking consistent actions on your goals.
Zach also mentioned a really important fact:
Knowledge is not power, but it has the potential to give
you power if you act on it. Therefore, if you really want to benefit from all the
things that are mentioned in Self-Improvement type of books
and blogs, make sure to start implementing the tips that you
think are helpful.
