We are all going to die. This is inevitable. However, our work that is characterized with excellence can continue to stay and help us stay alive even after our death. As a result of this, we should treat our work as one of our main priorities and missions in life that we try to pursue each day.
People are more motivated to achieve something that they see clearer, that is compelling and that also helps them identify with it. Work is one of those few things that might determine the identity of an individual, and before dying in an endless loop of continuous switches from one job to the other, it would be better to change the focus. Usually, you are advised that you should follow your passion and that you should not do what you do not like. However, most people do not hear a voice, or feel a certain feeling that guides them towards their dream job, though they are optimist for those miraculous moments.
This pursuit is not what you should be aiming at. Instead, you should change the direction and the attitude about the perfect job that you want to leave the legacy with.
Don’t follow your passion; instead work passionately toward the hard but worthy goal of making an impact. – Cal Newport
