The number of apps that claim to increase your level of productivity is constantly in the rise. Most of them tend to promote themselves as tools that can help you capture the tasks that you need to do. However, they do not either emphasize nor seem to promote another important factor: Keeping a did-it list, about the history of finished tasks. This might sound a bit weird and unheard, but it is something very helpful that can have a considerable impact on the levels of productivity. Continue reading

Maybe you have been in a situation where you have told someone that you will do something, and then managed to get it done as promised. On the other hand, you might have set a task on your to do list in which others are not involved and have been postponing it for a long time, or even let it unfinished at all. You did not finish it for more than a week and are surprised and feel guilty about this. The reason for these types of sabotages about your own goals, and commitments to tasks where other people are not involved might be because of accountability and ego. Continue reading

A couple of days ago, as I was discussing with a friend of mine about a plan that we had being talking about in the past, he questioned whether we are ready to dive into it or not. This is something that I have also encountered in a number of occasions with others and myself too. In fact, I am aware of a regular trend that has consistently shown up in my experience in most cases when I started something that was outside of my comfort zone. Continue reading

Having a long pile of to do items can be overwhelming. Organizing them based on their importance and urgency should be the filters that we should use most of the time. However, there might be also be another useful filter that can come in hand at times when we are not sure that the above mentioned filters are pointing to the right task to be done at a certain period of time. This important filter is the estimation of the time needed for tasks that are on our to-do lists to be completed. Continue reading

Yesterday I came across this idea of setting three major priorities at the beginning of each week and do the best out of your efforts to knock them down before the start of the next upcoming week. It sounds really simple and people might start to neglect it, saying that it can be only used by people who are engaged in only a few things, but actually this advice comes from a person who is engaged in a lot of things. Why do we quit before finishing something?

A few weeks ago a thought came to mind about the reason why I let my guard down before I finish doing something. I almost finished doing a task that I had to do and almost at the end of it, I found myself thinking that I have already finished it so maybe it is time to move on something else. Then I had less motivation to continue as hard as up to that point. I identified the false reasoning that was behind this thought that has kept repeating in my life. Continue reading

Find a reason for saving your time

I think the number one technique that should be learned about managing time is having a compelling reason to save it. There are a lot of blog posts in the internet regarding this issue of telling you how to manage your priorities in life and thus saving more time for other important things. Being so, there is no excuse for someone to say that I do not know how to manage my time. One thing that I have consistently seen missing from these articles is that they do not put into the question the emotional factors, or reasons that would be as a motivation for a person to be more productive.
