Breaking insecurities through writing

imagesI have been writing in this blog for quite some time now and have shared in social media a very small portion of the articles that I have written. I did not know the exact reason behind this strange hesitation that I had, so I decided to write about the actual reasons that I was not consciously aware of. After writing all the reasons that I thought were preventing me from sharing them, I figured out that none of them was something that should be considered as something reasonable. After seeing that there was not anything that could be taken seriously, I started sharing new articles from this blog and thus saw a considerable increase of readers of them. I have also used this similar technique to face some difficult situations that I have been in and have found it quite powerful and would like to share it with you and mention some of the reasons that I think make it efficient. 5 myths and misunderstandings about learning

Scott Young is a writer of a few books that are mostly about learning more and productivity. He is probably famous especially for his astonishing project of finishing a four year MIT Computer Science curriculum in one year learning on his own without being at MIT. He writes in a blog mostly about ways of learning more and better.  A couple of weeks ago, Scott Young held a webinar about the myths and misconceptions that people have about learning well. The webinar was not intended to be recorded, so I had to wake up at 2:30 am to watch it because of the time zone differences, but I consider it totally worth my time and effort. In this article, you can find some notes that I took while attending the webinar, hoping that they may be beneficial for you. Continue reading

Elon Musk can be afraid just like you

elon-musk-space-x-tesla

When you hear the name of Elon Musk, what might be among the first things that pop into your mind?

I guess you might think of a modern “Iron Man”, who is really smart and really brave going after his targets despite all odds and conventional wisdom.

Except being an extraordinary guy for its achievements, his seemingly inhuman work ethic working around 100 hours a week and his big goal of making interplanetary transportation possible, he feels fear too. Continue reading

How do you know that you are going to be ready in the future?

Two weeks ago, I wrote an article telling how we do not have the courage or the determination to face with difficult tasks that we have at hand and suppose that we might postpone important things for the future, expecting that somehow, we are going to be ready to finish them. For those of you that might have not been convinced yet, I would suggest you to reevaluate your opinion by answering the following questions and then be able to think whether you should keep postponing your task. You do not have to answer them for me, but for your own selves. Continue reading

You are never ready, you simply have to do it anyway

A couple of days ago, as I was discussing with a friend of mine about a plan that we had being talking about in the past, he questioned whether we are ready to dive into it or not. This is something that I have also encountered in a number of occasions with others and myself too. In fact, I am aware of a regular trend that has consistently shown up in my experience in most cases when I started something that was outside of my comfort zone. Continue reading

Time estimations of task completion can help you be more productive

Having a long pile of to do items can be overwhelming. Organizing them based on their importance and urgency should be the filters that we should use most of the time. However, there might be also be another useful filter that can come in hand at times when we are not sure that the above mentioned filters are pointing to the right task to be done at a certain period of time. This important filter is the estimation of the time needed for tasks that are on our to-do lists to be completed. Continue reading

Appreciate what you already have

There are a lot of things that we currently do not have and wish we had, despite the fact that we have a lot of other ones that a lot of other people only dream about. We tend to always look for more things, and aspire to have more, and we forget to appreciate what we currently possess. It is no secret that we might never get all the things that we might want to have, because it is almost impossible.

Managing major important priorities each week

Yesterday I came across this idea of setting three major priorities at the beginning of each week and do the best out of your efforts to knock them down before the start of the next upcoming week. It sounds really simple and people might start to neglect it, saying that it can be only used by people who are engaged in only a few things, but actually this advice comes from a person who is engaged in a lot of things. Combat procrastination by questioning the reasons of its occurrence

Perfectionism procrastinationProcrastination is something that at some point at in our lives we have done it, no matter how disciplined we might look like in front of the others, or how many things we have done so far. It is something that we still do it here and there because of different factors. Being able to identify the reason of its occurrence is one of the most important steps that might help you to combat it.
