We have so many goals and ideas. Whenever someone tries to talk to us about their goals, we immediately start to think about our own and how awesome those goals are. Very big goals and big ambitions, but when we are asked about the reasons that are holding us back and not allowing us to progress and really accomplish them, we realize that we are only talking about those goals.
I want to write a book. I want to have six pack abs. I want to develop my online course. The list of goals continues on, but it is interesting that the list of our actions towards those goals is empty. We continue to talk to people we hang out with about them, but never take a single action to turn those goals into a reality.
I cannot think about this in a different manner other than a self-sabotage that will not send us near our goals. The truth is, we cannot accomplish them without putting in the work whether we feel about working towards those goals or not.
There might be a lot of areas of our lives that might need our attention, but it is better to prioritize one single aspect that needs our most dedication and focus on it. When I say that we should focus on it, I mean spending time, and also money if it is necessary to learn and invest in ourselves as much as we can. When we treat it as a real priority, which is something that is not in the list of should do but must do items, we can have more clarity which as a result will make us more motivated.
If we have so many things in our plate and we do not prioritize anything, then it might be difficult to differentiate what matters from what does not, which in return will be followed by procrastination.
It is not necessary to quit our jobs, or abandon our social life simply because we want to be reach those things. Rather it is better for us to start small, but keep the consistency. Consistency will most definitely compound, which will eventually produce remarkable results.
