We all have goals, whether we have set them by ourselves, or the others. Get a degree, get a good job, get married, buy a car and a house and other types of common goals are well spread. These types of goals might be ours, or ones that the family or the society sometimes tries to set for ourselves. Even though they might have good intentions, sometimes they can simply put a lot of stress and pressure upon an individual such that it is unbearable for him. However, goals should not be like that. They are targets that should first and foremost be for us and not against us.
Goals are not meant to be things that are only accomplished once in a lifetime, when one gets old and is retired. I am not saying that you should not have goals for that particular part of your life, but I am trying to emphasize that you should have goals for your near future too. Goals are meant to be in your disposal, as a means of orientation for your actions and as clear targets that compel you in different circumstances. When you have something that you intend to accomplish, then it should be clear and specific enough to fuel your actions.
Goals are meant to change your current state, and thus your current actions and orient them in such a way that you are likely to achieve the results that you are after. They should not be overwhelming and paralyzing such that you are even afraid to do something, let alone be able to accomplish them. As you know, you have to take action to accomplish them and having said that, it is rational to have more realistic goals that are at the very least inspiration fuels of the one who sets them.
When you have something clear that changes your state that motivates you to take action, then chances are you are not going to waste so much time scrolling up and down in your Facebook news feed. You are more likely to eliminate distractions and accomplish far more than a distracted person. Thus you can then have a guilt free period of rest and dedicate it to your family or friends, or to a local charity club.
If you have something that you want to achieve, but you are not specific, then it is likely that you are not going to be aware of whether you accomplished it or not. If you do not have goals, that is, you do not know what to accomplish, then you might miss a sense of fulfillment and happiness that usually associates a person when accomplishing them.
