We are products of our own behaviors, that we consciously or unconsciously do, also known as habits and the results that we have in our lives are mostly the outcomes of them. According to a study published by Duke University in 2006, we spend more than 40 percent of our time engaged in habitual actions that we do not give a second thought about. Thus, it is very important to improve our habits, if we want to get things that we have not achieved until now.
When we build better habits, we no longer need motivation to perform our actions, as it will be easier for us to do something that you us used to do, rather than not doing it. That is the fruit of habits that represent human behaviors.
Some examples of good habits are: Starting the day with the most important task on the to-do list, working out at least three times a week, flossing each day, reading books, journaling, checking email twice a day, turning off smartphone notifications, etc.
These might not only improve the quality of the life that we have, but they can also impact the people around us. Your boss is pleased with the results of your work and also your family is happy with the increase of your salary because of doing the most important tasks first at your job. Your friends like to stay with an energetic person who has built a healthy body and can tell them different lessons that you have learned. Journaling will not only improve your ability to concentrate, but it will also give you the chance of tracking your progress and then share the lessons that you learned along the way. Turning off your smartphone notifications will drastically improve the quality of the work that you do and you will not only be able to focus better, but you will also do better and faster work.
Start to build better habits now and then become a witness of this life-changing decision. James Clear has a free electronic book about the habits that I recommend you to read it. It has some reliable resources and action steps that are easy to follow.
