It is important to do your job really well, with the best of your abilities, but if you delay starting working each time, then it might be because that aim for perfectionism is actually becoming an alternate road that is causing you to procrastinate.
There are certain tasks that you must do and delaying the beginning of working on them might solely follow with stressful experiences that can impact your time and the quality of the work that you do. Having said that, thinking that you are still not ready and that you are waiting for a better moment to start that important project is in fact a manner of escaping from it until you find out that you are then engaged in other tasks that will fill up your agenda. That way, your desires will simply accompany you to your grave, without being able to become a source of service to others and a valuable and meaningful endeavor that gives you a feeling of being an important part of the world.
My advice for you and for myself (as I am not a good example of starting early either) is to start now, and at least do something related to it. It might be preparing a plan, or sending an email inviting a friend to join you, or having an uncomfortable conversation with your boss. Then, try to follow it with small steps that you are feeling inspired to do. If you are not acting, then it is probably because you have not chosen enough small steps yet. After that, follow this pattern and do not worry too much about making it perfect in the beginning. Hopefully, later on you will have more time and more motivation to improve your work. Thus, you might be surprised to find out about the kinds of results that you gain by being consistent and not giving up.
