We are often not very keen to do our job, to perform our best and to finish off our to-do list because we do not feel motivated and think that we will do better other times when a moment of inspiration comes. This continues on a consistent basis and then becomes a habit, something that you feel better to do than to not do it. If you want to escape this dangerous trap that might spread into other areas of your life as well, you need to do something about motivation. You might even consider removing motivation from the equation of action at all.
Think if you could regularly perform at your best and do your work without hesitation. Wouldn’t you enjoy that type of life then? You might even think to say that this would turn you into a robotic engine, but this is not true. When you do your work without hesitation, you will definitely shave off wasted hours procrastinating and spend these hours with your family, friends or work on the side project that you have been thinking to start working on.
If you want to achieve this, try to think that it does not matter if you are motivated or not. As long as it is time to work, you simply concentrate your mental and physical energy fully into the task at hand and perform the best of your efforts. This will not only bring a better quality of the work that you do, but will also help you in other areas of your life as well. You finish your work early and then spend the remaining part of the day with your family. You might read that book that your friend talked to you about during your last hang out and so on.
