Computer software cannot be imagined without having any bug at all, whether they are developed by Google, Microsoft or an unknown programmer who is programming in his garage. However this reality does not stop these companies to constantly engage into improving their products, so that there are less bugs into them than before. We humans might have some behaviors or habits that we are not content that we do, but somehow we fall into trap of regularly doing them, and start to think that they are irreplaceable and that there is nothing that we can do about them.
It is ironic that we consider ourselves as the most intelligent creatures, yet get into the same train of thought that we cannot improve ourselves, and at the same time we accept that software can be fixed and updated. Programs are such a good example that though you might have some weaknesses, you might still be offering some helpful services for the users, and simultaneously get better after tests and reviews. Similarly, we should start to consider ourselves in such a way that we are constantly searching for bad behaviors and try to identify a proper fix or a solution to that, which is most easily done by replacing it with something more productive.
Here are some examples of some of the possible bugs that we might have and the turnarounds about them:
- We might usually be late for scheduled appointments. Then, we should try to think about plausible alternatives and approaches that would help us tackle this issue, rather than leaving it as an attribute of our identity.
- If you are constantly procrastinating, but find yourself that you are not always a procrastinator, it might be proper for you to start building some habits of making it easy for you to start, or chunk a big project into smaller pieces. Maybe your goals are not very compelling to you and that is why you are not feeling inspired to start working and consider not acting as a more pleasurable way than acting.
- If Facebook is consuming you a lot of time, try to turn it into an inbox only and apply the rule of not using it during your work schedule.
There are a lot of other examples of potential bugs that might exist in our human-software and even more solutions to them. A change of attitude can improve our lives.
