Whenever we start to do something it might be a determination from our side to go until the end of that thing, without even having a second thought about whether we should do it or not, whether it is worth doing it or not. We get overwhelmed by a lot of tasks that we are assigned to do at our job, or get very narrow focused at something that keeps other important areas of our lives out of our attention. Here we can mention time with our family members, time with our friends, time to work out, time to read and other things that you consider important, simply because we are too busy and think that do not have enough time. A very common theme that I have seen is that we usually try to underestimate the actual time that it is necessary for us to finish the tasks that we want to do. Even the most productive people that seem to accomplish a lot have their own struggles of working on their tasks. It might sound a bit surprising, however these people simply find ways of dealing with these inner battles and get their job done. They do not see motivation as a prerequisite to start working. They are aware of the initial resistance that comes along them each time they want to go to the gym, or start typing the report letter. Most of us engage in behaviors that we are ashamed that we do, and that we know we should not do, but still we engage in them, because of the people that we spend our time with. There might be different reasons for this weird attachment of us with these old behaviors, but it is also possible for us to break the chain and remove this burden. We can simply stop doing them, without having to overthink and paralyze ourselves.
Our daily life is consisted of patterns of behaviors and thought processes that we have been doing on a regular basis, that we also call them as habits. Whether we are aware of them or not, we do them. If we want to improve the quality of our lives, we must first try to form new habits that can be as means of achieving our goals in different areas like health, relationships, finance, or career. We think that when we have decided to form a new habit and planned our new behavior in detail, we will be able to perform it each day as planned. That is far from the truth. We might have a lot of failing attempts in the beginning that might even tempt us to think that we are simply not good at forming new habits and decide to not continue with the habit formation at all.
